Sergal S.A.
The quality of raw materials directly affects the quality and value of the final products.
SERGAL S.A. was founded in 1964 by the Agricultural Bank of Greece. In 1995, the company was sold via public auction, marking the beginning of its gradual upward path. Its main goal was to sufficiently improve the quality of its products in order to serve the consumer public in the best possible way. This goal was first achieved when the company managed to be certified for using non-GMO raw materials, and ultimately in 2000, when it implemented and certified a quality management system under ISO 9001, the international quality standard that defines the requirements for how a business should operate.
In 2005, the existing quality system was expanded to include ISO 22000, the standard for food safety management. By increasing its production, the company managed to expand its distribution network throughout the rest of Greece, partnering with the country's largest supermarket chains and gaining a steadily growing market share. That same year, SERGAL S.A. became a pioneer in its industry by incorporating natural gas into its entire production process, aiming to reduce its carbon footprint and thus ensure environmental protection. All these actions for product quality assurance resulted in the company being awarded a "green label" by Greenpeace and receiving a 10/10 rating from the organization.
In August 2008, the company launched a €7,000,000 investment for the full modernization and automation of its production process. As a result, the company being thus an ultra-modern dairy production facility, managed to increase the output of its new products, and further improved their quality by sourcing its raw materials from local livestock farmers in the Serres region, thereby supporting the survival of the rural community. Today, SERGAL S.A. is a modern dairy industry that offers consumers 100% Greek products that comply with European Union standards, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality.
